Product Description:
The sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant with a large daisy-like flower face. Its scientific name comes from the Greek words helios (“sun”) and anthos (“flower”). The flowers come in many colors (yellow, red, orange, maroon, brown), but they are commonly bright yellow with brown centers that ripen into heavy heads filled with seeds. which means that they turn their flowers to follow the movement of the Sun across the sky east to west, and then returns at night to face the east, ready again for the morning sun.
Light:
It almost goes without saying that sunflowers love the sun. Look for a spot with plenty of sun for these fast-growing annuals.
Soil:
Well-draining soil is essential.
Water:
Although sunflowers require a lot of water to germinate, they only require an inch of water per week during the growing season.
Fertilize:
If you prepared your soil with compost and/or manure, you shouldn’t need extra fertilization during the growing season.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature: 70° to 75°F (21° to 25°C).
Pruning:
Remove yellow or dying leaves, and plant debris to encourage better-growing conditions. While pruning, always use clean utensils or shears to reduce the chance of bacterial and fungal diseases.
