Product Description:
Eranthemum pulchellum, commonly called blue sage, is a tropical evergreen shrub that grows in an upright-open form to 2-5′ tall. It is native to India and China. It is noted for its axillary and terminal spikes (3-6″ long) of gentian blue flowers (each 3/4″ diameter). Where winter hardy, blooms of this shrub usually appear most profusely in late winter to early spring, but continue throughout most of the year. Each flower spike is subtended by showy green and white veined floral bracts which remain after the flowers drop. Ovate to elliptic medium green leaves (to 4-8″ long).
Light:
It can be kept indoors with indirect sunlight to get sun during morning and evening. If kept outdoors, keep in the shade of other plants or a greenhouse.
Soil:
Soil should be well-drained. The potting mix should be two parts sand + 1 part garden soil + 1 part manure/compost plus a little bit of Coco peat.
Watering:
Requires abundant watering during summer. The plant should give the water at least once or twice daily. .
Fertilization:
They are hardy plants & need fertilizer maybe only twice during the year.
Propagation:
Take a small cutting 4-5 inches from the top without flower, add a bit of rooting hormone. The cutting can be minimal with a few leaves. Put some perlite on top of the garden soil above the cutting.
