Product Description:

These trees are planted in gardens for the structural contrast they provide to your garden space. A single tree stands tall like a monument personally created to enhance your garden space. Pointy foliage at first softens with time. The bright yellowish-green of the tree looks beautiful in the sun and lightens even the dull spaces. The golden Leyland cypress tree is a standout specimen that adds a punch to the landscape. The plants make great hedges or stand-alone details. These are very hardy plants that perform well in USDA zones 5 through 9. Plant them in full sun to maximize their golden color.

Light:

cypress trees tend to grow in bright sun in their natural habitats. Thus plating them in full sun is preferable. Partial shade also works in hot areas.

Water:

Once a week. These trees require less water. You must water them carefully as overwatering can cause problems. Watering between weeks is advised for a month or so after planting a new tree.

Soil:

A little acidic in nature, and full of rich nutrients in the soil that fits perfectly for these trees. Good drainage is a must as well. A sandy, rocky soil will work as it can drain the water efficiently.

Fertilizer:

these plants are light feeders. They usually do not require any specific additional fertilizer but a slow-release fertilizer can do good in the growing seasons.

Humidity:

Humidity isn’t a problem here as the trees survive a good enough fluctuation in the humidity of the surrounding.

Pruning:

This shrub requires very little pruning and you want to avoid doing so if you want to keep its unique shape and foliage. Heavy pruning will ruin its unique appearance; thus shrub looks best when its unpruned.

Propagating Cypress:

It can be easy to propagate thread leaf false cypress through cuttings:

Cut a four-inch hardwood section during the winter and remove the foliage from the bottom two inches.
Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and place it in moist, well-drained soil. A plastic bag over the cutting will help it retain moisture, but make sure the bag doesn’t touch the cutting.
Keep it warm and water when necessary. It might take some time for roots to form,
When a root system develops, place the new sapling in a sunny area until it’s ready to be planted outdoors.
When that cold-stratification time is up, sow the seeds in a quality potting mix.
Keep the pot in a warm area.

Potting and Repotting Cypress:

Thread leaf false cypress varieties can be grown as container plants. Choose a container that will allow it to grow for two to three years before needing to be placed in a larger container. The right size container is six inches greater diameter than the root ball for varieties that grow slowly.
